Job Opportunity – Finance and Administration Manager

Job Summary 

The main responsibilities of this role is to manage the accounting and administration functions of the organization, including overseeing budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting, conducting regular monitoring and follow-up of a number of projects and reporting to management and to funding partners. This role is high-volume, with end-to-end hands-on exposure, requiring someone with significant tenacity who can deliver results on-time. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Finance

  1. Lead the work of the finance team,  manage daily operations, streamline processes, ensure robust finance and accounting systems, and prepare monthly closing reports to ensure efficiency and compliance with financial regulations and standards.
  2. Enforce and implement necessary accounting process controls to ensure quality and compliance, including proposing updates to the financial policies and procedures.
  3. Prepare and analyze monthly project forecasts and the latest annual financial estimates, manage cash flow, enforce associated budgetary controls, and keep the senior leadership team informed of the organization’s financial status.
  4. Prepare financial reports for management, donors/partners, and the board as required and effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to these stakeholders. 
  5. Lead the yearly budget process and support organizational strategic planning through financial modeling, cost analysis, and resource planning.
  6. Lead annual audits, including project audits, and ensure the organisation is compliant with national statutory reporting requirements.
  7. Lead financial support to the fundraising team, including financial budgets for fundraising purposes.
  8. Manage and develop the finance and admin team to ensure smooth operations. Foster a culture of accountability and high performance. 

Administration

  1. Manage procurement functions and oversee asset management, ensuring transparent, cost-effective procurement, proper accountability and compliance with all applicable policies.
  2. Facilitate and coordinate HR responsibilities & activities with support from the management team. 
  3. Other duties as assigned by the line manager.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in a similar role. 
  • Experience within an NGO/International Development environment
  • A Qualified Accountant
  • Previous experience of project controlling
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Very good spoken and written fluency in English
  • Strong experience of accounting software such as Sage or SAP is an advantage.
