Impact Investing Ghana (IIGh) is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to drive knowledge management, policy advocacy, and research to scale the impact of the organisation. The Senior Knowledge & Policy Officer will play a pivotal role in fostering a knowledge-sharing culture, producing actionable insights, building relationships with key government partners, project managing external researchers and influencing systemic change in Ghana’s impact investing ecosystem. Responsibilities
The Senior Knowledge and Policy Officer will lead knowledge management, policy advocacy and research to scale IIGh’s impact. This role focuses on project managing external researchers for commissioned research projects, synthesising insights into knowledge publications, leading internal research projects, promoting a culture of knowledge sharing, and building relationships with policymakers to influence actions that foster growth in the impact investing ecosystem.
Knowledge Management & Dissemination
- Promote a knowledge-sharing culture and work proactively with the programme, M&E and project teams to identify opportunities for capturing and sharing knowledge and disseminate information about significant progress, results, and lessons learned with key partners to scale our impact.
- Develop knowledge pieces that capture the key insights and learnings from IIGh’s work and put them in easy-to-understand forms to influence action by key stakeholders in the impact investing ecosystem.
- Establish systems to document and share organisational knowledge internally and externally.
Policy Advocacy & Engagement and Government Relationships
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of research literature related to impact investing, analyse local and international reports and policies that impact the growth of impact investing in Ghana and develop policy positions and products that relate to the promotion of impact investing and IIGh’s objectives.
- Lead the IIGh government relations work and build strong relationships with key stakeholders in the executive, legislature, key government ministries and agencies, as well as international organisations to position IIGh as a preferred partner and to advocate for IIGh’s policy priorities
- Represent IIGh at priority external forums, events, networks and with priority stakeholders to promote agreed policy positions.
Research & Strategic Insights
- Project manage external researchers commissioned by IIGh to produce research work to support IIGh work and develop dissemination strategies in partnership with the program team to ensure IIGh and its key stakeholders take action on research findings and recommendations.
- Conduct research to develop the field of impact investing and carry out original research and analysis; draft op-eds, background papers, substantive analytical and issue papers, talking points, speeches, policy statements, briefs, and other advocacy products; reflective of IIGh’s views and policy priorities, to support decision-making and the work of action groups, collaboratives and other structures of IIGh and in response to government consultations and proposed or actual policy action.
- Collaborate with the Senior Research Commercialisation and Policy Officer to integrate research findings into policy advocacy and knowledge products, ensuring alignment with IIGh’s strategic priorities.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Management or strategy consulting experience, preferably in finance, policy, nonprofit or philanthropic sector.
- 7+ years of work experience with a track record of consistently delivering projects on time and at a high quality.
- Strong research skills with a good understanding of practical research methods and the ability to use a range of research techniques at a high standard.
- An ability to design policy projects that align with organisational strategy and support effective advocacy.
- A deep knowledge of Ghana’s policy setting and social issues.
- Good people skills and effective relationship management and influencing skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent facilitation skills to lead workshops and collaborative discussions that include a wide range of stakeholders,
- Collaborative leader and excellent team player. Able to work well with others and create a fun and positive work environment even under time pressure
- Minimum of a Master’s degree.
- Experience in developing policy briefs and programs to influence government policy or industry action will be an advantage
