Deal Source Africa is a comprehensive program to connect businesses to investors, and transaction advisors and connect impact funds to limited partners. The program includes deal rooms, impact fund showcases, and a digital platform. The program was developed to close the funding gap in the African ecosystem and help SMEs and innovative vehicles in the African ecosystem secure funding.
Job Description: Investment Associate
IIGh seeks someone with a passion for driving more capital to SMEs in Ghana to join the Dealsource team in Accra. The role requires someone with an Investment Associate profile with excellent financial analysis and relationship building skills, and experience working with businesses, funds, and international organizations is preferable. This is a senior-level position and the analyst will be working closely with the Dealsource Africa Officer as a key team member working with investment-ready businesses across Africa to match them with investors whose investment criteria they meet.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Support the development of a strong pipeline of high-growth African businesses with the potential to scale. Preparing investment memos, and documents relevant to the fundraising process.
- Interpreting financial statements and using them to match businesses to investors whose selection criteria they meet to secure funding.
- As part of the Deal Source Africa Shared Resource Center, contribute to the development of program strategies, Standard Operating Procedures, templates, etc. to guide the work of Deal Source Africa to achieve its objectives of unlocking finance for Africa.
- Support with capacity building and quality control of Deal Source Africa at the country and regional levels to ensure that services align with Standard Operating Procedures and policies across all countries and regions.
- Review and analyze Deal Source Africa activities regionally, and synthesize information into internal reports and briefings for the review of management, funding partners, and decision-making purposes for the growth of Deal Source Africa.
- Support with advising on the viability of deals, review of investment teasers, financials, and relevant documents at the country and regional levels for businesses to secure funding.
- Support with organizing deal rooms and other events to connect impact funds to impact ventures and angel investors that meet their selection criteria and eventually secure funding.
- Advise and provide feedback to businesses on their fundraising materials to enable them to attract the attention of investors and provide advice to help businesses raise money from investors.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree especially in business, finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years experience in an analyst position in venture capital, investment banking or related fields.
- Strong technical and operational skills and a proven track record of originating, developing, structuring, and closing venture capital and private equity sector investments in Africa.
- Proven analytical, financial analysis, equity valuation, and financial modeling skills to analyze and form conclusions on company financial information, projects, and industry indicators. Able to oversee and provide quality control feedback on financial models prepared by more junior staff.
- Ability to interact directly and independently with senior management, financial, and technical partners to investors, businesses, and other stakeholders.
- Strong track record of portfolio supervision of venture capital and private equity portfolios.
- Relationship Management: Skilled at establishing and cultivating strong relationships with key stakeholders at different levels internally and externally to achieve the desired outcomes and reporting on progress to senior managers/board of directors.
- Ability to work well in a hybrid or virtual team environment, especially with distributed team members and partners across various time zones and cultures.
- Entrepreneurial Spirit: Takes initiative and actively seeks to deepen relationships with existing businesses and funds and forge new ones.
- Communications: Skilled in creating compelling and clear written and oral communications for engaging members (impact ventures) and investors. Ability to convey complex ideas through brief, simple materials. Experience and credibility when presenting materials to external audiences.
